Savage, who had been 'retired' at WrestleMania VII and reinstated to active competition, was fighting not only for the championship but for his marriage, his dignity, and Elizabeth's honour against Flair's despicable insinuations. The title change was executed through a surprising roll-up finish — Savage holding the tights, a heel tactic used by the ostensible babyface — following a near-pinfall for Flair with brass knuckles. Savage's post-match presentation of the championship belt to Elizabeth, saying 'it's for her,' was one of the most memorable post-championship-win moments in the event's history. The reign lasted until September 1, 1992, when Flair regained the title with Razor Ramon's assistance in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

WWF Tag Team Championship — Money Inc. Retains

Natural Disasters win by count-out — Money Inc. retains titles

The WWF Tag Team Championship match produced the most controversial non-finish on the card. Money Inc. — Ted DiBiase and IRS managed by Jimmy Hart — chose to walk out through the crowd rather than face the Natural Disasters' physical dominance, winning by deliberate count-out. As championships cannot change hands on a count-out, Money Inc. retained the titles despite losing the bout. The Natural Disasters would eventually win the championships three months later at a non-PPV television taping, further underlining the artificiality and unsatisfying nature of the WrestleMania VIII result.
