Ultimate Warrior defeats Hulk Hogan — Two Title Changes in One Match

The most historic championship match in WWF history up to that point. The Ultimate Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan in 22 minutes and three seconds to simultaneously win both the WWF World Heavyweight Championship and the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship — the first time in WWF history that two singles championships were simultaneously won in the same match. Warrior's victory ended Hogan's WWF Championship reign that had begun on February 5, 1988, following his regaining of the title in the controversial Twin Referee screwjob rematch with André the Giant. Since Warrior won both titles, he was immediately required to vacate the Intercontinental Championship — as WWF rules prohibited any wrestler from holding two singles titles simultaneously. An eight-man tournament was subsequently held on WWF television, with Mr. Perfect defeating Tito Santana in the finals to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Demolition defeats Colossal Connection — Title Change

Demolition won the WWF Tag Team Championship for the third and final time by defeating The Colossal Connection — André the Giant and Haku — in a match decided by Haku's accidental super-kick to André's jaw. Demolition's reign was their third overall and lasted until SummerSlam 1990, when they lost the titles to The Hart Foundation in one of that event's most celebrated matches. André's babyface turn in the post-match — attacking Heenan and Haku after Bobby Heenan slapped him — was the emotional punctuation mark of his WWF career. The standing ovation André received from the SkyDome crowd after the match remains one of the most moving moments in WrestleMania history.

Million Dollar Championship — DiBiase Reclaims His Belt

Ted DiBiase wins by count-out over Jake Roberts

The Million Dollar Championship — a self-created belt commissioned by the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase — was not an officially recognised WWF title, but its dramatic role in the DiBiase vs. Roberts programme gave it the weight of a genuine championship. The WrestleMania VI stipulation specified that DiBiase would reclaim possession of the belt if he won the match. Despite winning only by count-out — when Virgil distracted Roberts on the floor — DiBiase successfully recovered his prized possession. Roberts' post-match DDT and his distribution of DiBiase's cash to ringside fans was the crowd's catharsis.
