The biggest NFL star of the Battle Royal and an enormous crowd favourite given his Chicago hometown connection. 'The Refrigerator' — famous for occasionally lining up as a fullback and scoring touchdowns for the Super Bowl XX champion Bears — was one of the most recognisable athletes in America in 1986. His famous moment came when he eliminated Big John Studd using a deceptive handshake that he converted into an over-the-top-rope elimination. The Chicago crowd erupted.

Jimbo Covert

Chicago Bears — Offensive Lineman

Another Super Bowl XX Chicago Bears champion, offensive lineman Jimbo Covert participated in the Battle Royal alongside his teammate Refrigerator Perry. Covert was a standout offensive lineman for the Bears during their dominant 1985 championship season and brought significant athletic credibility to the WWF vs. NFL crossover match.

Harvey Martin

Dallas Cowboys — Defensive End

Harvey Martin was a legendary Dallas Cowboys defensive end and Super Bowl XII co-MVP who participated in the WrestleMania 2 Battle Royal. Martin had retired from professional football by the time of WrestleMania 2 but remained a major sports celebrity with enormous name recognition, particularly in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle and four-time Super Bowl champion Ernie Holmes participated in the WrestleMania 2 Battle Royal. Holmes was one of the most feared defensive players in Steelers history during their dominant 1970s dynasty period, winning four Super Bowl rings with Pittsburgh from 1974 to 1979.

Russ Francis was an All-Pro tight end for the San Francisco 49ers who had recently won Super Bowl XIX. Francis was known as much for his movie-star looks and charismatic personality as for his football excellence, making him a natural fit for the theatrical environment of professional wrestling. His participation added West Coast NFL star power to the Chicago event.

Bill Fralic

Atlanta Falcons — Offensive Guard

Atlanta Falcons offensive lineman Bill Fralic was one of the highest-profile active NFL players in the WrestleMania 2 Battle Royal at the time of the event. Fralic was a former first-round draft pick who was in the early stages of what would become a distinguished NFL career, selected to four Pro Bowls between 1985 and 1989.
