WWF World Heavyweight Championship — Steel Cage Match

Hulk Hogan (c) def. King Kong Bundy — Hogan retains

The premier championship match of WrestleMania 2 and the event's true main event. Hulk Hogan successfully defended the WWF World Heavyweight Championship against the massive King Kong Bundy in the first Steel Cage Match in WrestleMania history. Hogan's ribs were legitimately (by storyline) injured heading in, and Bundy attacked the bandaged midsection immediately. Hogan overcame the assault, Hulked Up, and escaped the cage to retain his title. The championship had been won by Hogan at WrestleMania I in 1985, and this was his first WrestleMania title defence. Hogan's reign continued well beyond WrestleMania 2, as he successfully turned back challenges from Paul Orndorff, Andre the Giant, and Hercules Hernandez before ultimately losing the title to Andre on February 5, 1988.

WWF Tag Team Championship

British Bulldogs def. The Dream Team — Title Change!

The most significant title change of WrestleMania 2 and one of the most celebrated moments of the entire event. The British Bulldogs — Davey Boy Smith and the Dynamite Kid — defeated champions Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake to win the WWF Tag Team Championship. The Bulldogs were accompanied by Captain Lou Albano and rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. The title change delighted the Chicago crowd and launched one of the most beloved tag team championship reigns of the 1980s. The Bulldogs went on to successfully defend the titles against their former opponents The Dream Team on the October 4, 1986 Saturday Night's Main Event in a two-out-of-three falls match.

WWF Intercontinental Championship

Randy Savage (c) def. George Steele — Savage retains

Randy 'Macho Man' Savage retained the WWF Intercontinental Championship against the wild George 'The Animal' Steele in a match driven as much by love as by competition. Steele's infatuation with Miss Elizabeth — Savage's real-life wife and on-screen manager — repeatedly distracted him from the task of winning the championship. Savage used the distraction expertly, retaining with his feet on the ropes for leverage. The Savage vs. Steele feud continued well beyond WrestleMania 2, with the Elizabeth subplot becoming one of the WWF's most effective romantic storylines throughout 1986.

WWF Women's Championship

Fabulous Moolah (c) def. Velvet McIntyre — Moolah retains

The Fabulous Moolah retained the WWF Women's Championship against Velvet McIntyre in one of the shortest matches in WrestleMania history at just 1 minute and 25 seconds. McIntyre had momentum early with dropkicks and a slam, but Moolah dodged a second-rope splash and immediately covered for the three-count. The brevity of the women's title match drew criticism from fans who felt the division deserved more time, but Moolah's dominance as champion was firmly re-established. Moolah had been the Women's Champion for the better part of three decades at this point in her legendary career.
