A complete list of cities that have hosted the Summer Olympic Games from Athens 1896 to the upcoming editions.
The modern Olympic Games began in Athens in 1896, reviving the ancient Greek tradition. Since then, the Summer Olympics have been held every four years, with exceptions during the World Wars. London is the only city to host three Summer Olympics. The Games were cancelled in 1916, 1940, and 1944, and postponed in 2020 due to COVID-19. The 2028 Games will be held in Los Angeles, and Brisbane will host in 2032.
