List of Stadium Naming Rights Deals for IPL Venues

Overview of naming rights deals, renaming history, and commercial partnerships associated with IPL cricket stadiums.

10 itemsUpdated Mar 31, 2026

Unlike the NFL or Premier League, IPL venues in India have largely retained government or state cricket association names rather than commercial naming rights deals. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad (formerly Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium) was renamed after India's Prime Minister in 2020. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai is named after educationist Dr. DY Patil and has hosted IPL matches. In 2017, MCA evaluated proposals to sell Wankhede naming rights — a deal that was never finalised. Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune was the only Indian cricket venue with a commercial naming deal, which collapsed with Sahara's financial difficulties. As IPL franchise values grow, stadium naming rights represent an untapped commercial opportunity for state cricket associations.
