Despite 18 seasons and 15 total franchises participating in the IPL, several teams have never managed to lift the trophy. Among active franchises, Delhi Capitals (and their predecessor Delhi Daredevils), Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab), and Lucknow Super Giants are yet to win their first title. Delhi Capitals came closest, reaching the 2020 final before losing to Mumbai Indians. Punjab Kings lost two finals (2014 and 2025). Lucknow Super Giants have not yet reached a final. Among defunct teams, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Pune Warriors India, Rising Pune Supergiant (runners-up 2017), and Gujarat Lions never won the title either.
